About St. Matthews, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

St. Matthews, Kentucky is a city in Jefferson County. It is found within the Louisville Metro Area and is home to approximately 16,000 people. The area now known as St. Matthews was originally settled by Europeans in 1779 during the American Revolutionary War. Previously the sight of many plantations, the area became a major agricultural community due to its potato production. At one point, St. Matthews was the second largest supplier of potatoes in the country, but with time, urban transit led the city to become a primarily residential community.

There are many interesting things to see and do in the St. Matthews area. A major shopping destination, St. Matthews is home to two of the largest shopping malls in the state: Mall St. Matthews and the Oxmoor Center. Families with young children might like to take a trip to the Ten Pink Strike & Spare or to check out an animated film at Cinemark Mall St. Matthews.

The St. Matthews area is found within a humid subtropical climate region. The area is characterized by hot and muggy summer months. Average daily highs in the hottest month of July reach 87 degrees Fahrenheit, but there are many days where thermostat readings jump into the 90s. It is crucial that St. Matthews residents are prepared with an energy efficient central air conditioner unit. Not only do these systems keep indoor temperatures cool, but they will also improve circulating air quality.

The autumn and spring months are warm and pleasant, and this time should be used to prepare climate controls for upcoming severe weather. While snowfall is minimal during St. Matthews winters, freezing overnight temperatures are common. These conditions can become dangerous without the right climate controls in place. A licensed HVAC technician can provide the seasonal maintenance needed to ensure furnace systems or heat pumps are in proper working order.
